Spain’s project pipeline is supported by a strong legislative and financial framework, however, project developers face a number of barriers that make it difficult for these investments to materialise, including grid access, permitting and regulatory certainty. The Build Clean Now workshop and briefing will identify concrete solutions that can improve projects’ ability to secure financing and accelerate both the flow of capital to companies and the pace of the transition towards a clean industry.
James Schofield, ITA Managing Director, said: “Innovative collaboration between government, industry and finance to deploy new approaches… will be required to translate potential into reality at the speed necessary to claim Spain’s leading position in the race to clean industry”.
We certainly need to use Spain’s clean energy superpower and turn it into industrial growth on the ground… we have the wind and we have the sun. These are the new oil.

The Build Clean Now Spain workshop asked the question of the 40 leaders who came together from industry, finance and government: what it will take to turn Spain’s clean energy superpower into industrial growth on the ground?
Feedback from this highly knowledgeable and engaged audience was positive, with attendees suggesting progress in Spain could provide regulatory guarantees in line with what industry and investors have been demanding and what is being done in other countries.
